Islamic University of Gaza is a permanent member of Global University Network for Innovation

The Islamic University of Gaza has become a permanent member of the Global University Network for Innovation-GUNi, which includes nearly 270 institutions from around the world, including the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education, higher education institutions, research centers, and networks related to higher education from 85 countries around the world.

The joining of the Islamic University to this network comes under the university’s awareness of higher education institutions’ role in society in enhancing knowledge for developing solutions to meet the challenges facing the world today, and for the urgent need to reconsider the social contribution of higher education and the need to enhance its role in the transformation and positive change of societies and in contributing to building a better world.

With this membership, the Islamic University will have several opportunities for effective cooperation in many activities of the network to serve the promotion of higher education globally and support the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals in higher education.

The Global University Network for Innovation aims to enhance the role of higher education in society by supporting the renewal of visions and policies around the world in terms of public service, social responsibility, and innovation, in addition to encouraging the exchange of innovative resources, ideas, and experiences on emerging issues in higher education.

Among the most important values espoused by the network are: generating and exchanging knowledge about the policies and management of higher education around the world, supporting the knowledge society by strengthening higher education systems and institutions for progress, culture, and well-being, as well as supporting institutions and governments around the world to advance higher education and scientific research; innovation; and encouraging academic and scientific research to scale international cooperation.

The Islamic University is an active member of twelve international associations and networks around the world, including: the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU), Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), Consortium of Euro-Mediterranean Universities (TETHYS), Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW), the International Association of Universities (IAU), Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean Academic Network (BSEMAN).
