Funded by Prince Claus Institution, IUG Opens Ewan Center and Arabesque Permanent Exhibition

While celebrating the inauguration of Ewan Center and Arabesque permanent exhibition, Dr. Kamalen Sha’ath thanked Prince Claus Institution for its great efforts in re-establishing the Heritage Building Center.

Dr. Sha’ath also appreciated the efforts of Red Cross Organization in supporting and serving the higher education in Palestine. He stated that opening the center and the exhibition in these challenging days highlights the great deep-rooted history of Palestine. He shaded light on IUG seeking for convoying the scientific development and serving the society.

Prof. Rifaat Rustom, Vice President for IT & External Relations, Prof. Shafeeq Jondya, Engineering Faculty Dean, Dr. Abd Alrahman Mohammed, Chief of Center For Architecture Heritage , Mr. John Mathew, Director of the French Cultural Center, Mrs. Sue Limijore, Chief of food Security in the international committee of Red Cross Organization, Mr. Saeed Sha’ath, Food Security Officer in the International Committee of Red Cross Organization, representatives of the ministries of Culture, Youth, Sport, Tourism and Archeology, representatives of municipalities and companies and a number of historians.

Prof. Jondya thanked Prince Claus Institution for its efforts in re-establishing the Heritage Building Center, supporting the scientific projects and establishing the scientific centers all over the world. He declared that reopening the center and the development of engineering faculty reflect the cooperation of Prince Claus Institution and the engineering departments.

Mrs. Else Pander Plus, who was participating via internet, thanked IUG and especially Engineering Faculty for the services they offer to students and higher education. In addition, she stated that the establishment welcomes the cooperation with Heritage Archeticture Center in order to preserve the Palestinian dignity and heritage.

Dr. Mohammed appreciated the role of UNESCO organization, Quakers Establishment, the international committee of Red Cross Organization, UN developmental Program for their efforts in serving and supporting the center. He said that re-opening the center comes as a result of the cooperation of Ewan staff members, IUG president, Engineering faculty, and Prince Claus Institution.

Engineer Balaawi mentioned that Arabesque exhibition is Ewan’s permanent exhibition and it contains paintings from training courses and workshops. He added that Ewan Center aims at highlighting the importance of cultural heritage and the value of the ancient buildings.

It is worth mentioning that Arabesque is the repetition of geometric and plant patterns engraved on wood stones. It is one of the most beautiful elements of Islamic arts.
