The Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) has formally honoured outstanding educator Ms Israa Z. Kohail following her selection as the “Palestine Ambassador for Educational Creativity,” outperforming candidates from 83 competing nations.
Ms Kohail, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the Foundations of Education at IUG, was recognized at an official university ceremony attended by senior leadership, including IUG President Professor Dr As’ad Youssef As’ad and Faculty of Education Dean Dr Basil Al-Khudari. University officials commended her achievement as a testament to the institution’s academic excellence, which consistently ranks at the forefront of regional and domestic higher education frameworks.
The international title follows a rigorous evaluation process running from October to February, overseen by the International Development Ambassadors Organisation. Ms Kohail’s nomination originated from grassroots recognition of her innovative teaching methodologies, which emphasise active learning, tangible educational aids, and adapted psychological approaches for early years and secondary education.
In addition to her current teaching roles at local educational centres, Kohail is spearheading community initiatives, including a heavily subsidized schooling project backed by Kuwaiti funding, and a specialised training module for institutional security personnel on child-friendly public interaction.
Looking forward, Ms Kohail plans to complete her postgraduate research and pursue a PhD, advocating for the integration of modern digital tools and AI platforms in contemporary lesson planning. Organisers and university leadership praised her trajectory as a vital model of resilience and educational leadership under challenging structural conditions.
