The Scholarship was created by the students of St Edmund Hall in response to the crisis in the Gaza Strip in 2008-09 following ‘Operation Cast Lead’. Facilities of the Islamic University of Gaza were destroyed and the students of St Edmund Hall wanted to offer an opportunity to a talented student from the region whose access to education had been impeded.
The scholarship is open to Palestinian students to study for an undergraduate degree at St Edmund Hall, one of the colleges of the University of Oxford. Applicants must have completed one year of undergraduate study in their home country at the time of application.
