Top Surgeon in Gaza Receives Robotic Surgery Certification

The International College of Robotic Surgeons in India has awarded Dr. Suhaib Mohammed Alhams, the Head of the Surgery Department in the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza, a certification of fellowship and a higher diploma in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. This institute is recognized as the first in Asia and the third in the world to specialize in the field.

According to Dr. Alhams, a urology consultant, the certification for advanced laparoscopic surgery and surgical robotics is a prestigious scientific achievement. Using endoscopes and robots is a modern surgical technique that allows surgeons to operate through small incisions with the assistance of robotic arms. This technique is specifically helpful when operating in narrow areas of the body that are hard to reach with traditional surgical methods. Moreover, the robotic arms can reduce the trembling of the surgeon’s hand, leading to greater precision and a magnified, three-dimensional view.
