Not only does IUG pursue scientific knowledge but also it serves humanitarian principles by galvanizing the global community to take action toward the issues of people with special needs and the oppressed. The messages of the unheard and overlooked must be articulated by all means. It is the mission of the International Journal of Disability and Social Justice (IJDS) to conduct research that tackles the challenges they face and suggests just solutions that enhance their social integration.
Out of 62 competitors from prestigious international universities in Britain, America, Australia, Latin America, and Africa, Dr. Nazmi Al-Masri, an Associate Professor in the English Department at IUG, has been selected to join the editorial board of IJDS. He has always been involved in local and international projects that aim to assist people with special needs, for example, the Disability Under Siege project in partnership with the University of Birmingham in Britain, Birzeit University in Palestine, and the Center for Lebanese Studies–Lebanon.
Such an accomplishment stimulates empirical research in the field and increases publications that serve the target group, which makes up one-fifth of the world’s population. That reflects an aspect of the Palestinian identity that denies all forms of injustice. Most importantly, it advances social justice in societies that vary in culture, policies, and languages.
Prof. Dr. Nasser Farhat, President of the Islamic University of Gaza, acknowledged the endeavor of the researcher and expressed hope of advancing the university ranking in scientific research.
