
The Islamic University of Gaza’s Faculty of Arts, through its Journalism and Media Department, has recently published the 172nd edition of its weekly training newspaper, Sawt Aljamea, also known as “Voice of the University.” Dated May 28, 2023, this publication is temporarily released on a monthly basis.
Comprising 20 medium-sized pages, including four colored pages, the newspaper features a range of specialized sections. These include coverage of student affairs, profiles of creative individuals, engaging dialogues, in-depth investigations, discussions on boundaryless media, a platform for Islamic matters, updates on finance and business, insights into culture and literature, developments in science and technology, examinations of family and society, and coverage of sports and youth activities.
Leading the editorial team is Dr. Wael Al-Manama, Head of the Journalism and Media Department, serving as the editor-in-chief of “Voice of the University.” Assisting him are Dr. Rajaa Abu Mezyed as the editor and Mr. Munir Abu Raas as the executive director. Engineer Kamal Isleem provides technical supervision. Notably, the editorial board consists of talented fourth-year students.
Dr. Al-Manama underscores the significance of publishing this newspaper, which stands as the pioneering Palestinian university training newspaper and one of the early training publications within Arab universities. The esteemed journalists who contribute to various local, Arab, and international media outlets have gained valuable experience and training through their involvement with “Voice of the University.”
It is worth mentioning that the inaugural issue of “Voice of the University” was published on April 23, 1996, marking the beginning of a long-standing tradition of informative and educational journalism at the Islamic University of Gaza.
