Islamic University Claims Second Place in Chess and Holds 6th Strength and Endurance Championship

Aslan Atallah, a dedicated player from the Islamic University team, demonstrated exceptional skill and strategic prowess, securing an impressive second-place finish in the highly competitive Gaza Chess Championship. Organized by the Palestinian Chess Federation under the auspices of the Olympic Committee, the championship marked a solemn occasion: the commemoration of the Palestinian Nakba.

The 6th edition of the Strength and Endurance Championship for university students, a separate event, unfolded with great enthusiasm. The Sports Activity Department, under the guidance of Dr. Moumen Al-Azzazi, Head of the Sports Activity Department, and Mr. Nimr Abu Manee, Supervisor of Sports Halls, orchestrated a memorable competition at the Islamic University.

In the fiercely contested 75 kg category, Anas Al-Hallak, a diligent student, emerged victorious, earning a well-deserved first-place finish. Displaying remarkable tenacity, Husam Ayesh secured second place, reflecting his unwavering commitment and athletic prowess. Notably, in the 85 kg category, Abdullah Khattab showcased exceptional strength and determination, claiming the coveted first-place position. Meanwhile, Mohammed Al-Muhtadi showcased extraordinary skill and physical prowess in the 90 kg and above category, earning him a deserving first-place distinction.

Dr. Al-Azzazi expressed the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and excellence. Emphasizing the significance of sports championships in promoting healthy competition among students, he underscored the Student Affairs Deanship’s perpetual dedication to engaging with students and hosting diverse sports activities.
