
Three students from the Islamic University have been honored with the Best Scientific Research Award in Water and Sanitation Issues. Abdullah Al-Haj Ahmed, a PhD student in the Water Technology program, secured the second-place position nationwide for his research titled “Removal of Boron from Aqueous Solution Through Adsorption Process Using Cationic Surfactant (CTAB)-Modified Kaolin Clay.” This exceptional work was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Professor Hussam Al-Najjar from the Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University.
Furthermore, Malik Daher’s project, mentored by Professor Sufyan Tayeh from the Faculty of Science, has earned him a coveted opportunity for incubation. His research, titled “Design of a Novel Optical Sensor for the Detection of Waterborne Bacteria Based on a Photonic Crystal with Ultra-High Sensitivity,” will be nurtured at the esteemed Nizak Institute in Palestine.
In addition to this, Ahmed Jundiya’s project, overseen by Professor Nizam Al-Ashqar from the Faculty of Science, has also been selected for incubation. His research, entitled “Removal of Nitrate from Groundwater by Eggshell Biowaste,” will be further developed at the Nizak Institute in Palestine.
Professor Dr. Youssef Al-Jaish, the Dean of Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies, commended the exceptional achievements of the Islamic University’s talented students in the realm of scientific and research accolades, both within Palestine and beyond. He emphasized that the Deanship of Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies has diligently monitored the progress of the Water Award since its inception, meticulously selecting a group of exceptional university students whose research projects excel in this field. Professor Al-Jaish extended his heartfelt congratulations to the students and their supervisors for receiving this distinguished award while encouraging them to persevere in their scientific excellence and contribute to the dissemination of valuable research findings.
