Islamic University hosts a professor from University of Granada in Spain

The Islamic University of Gaza has welcomed Dr. Diego Chec Hidalgo from the University of Granada in Spain, who is the Spanish partner in the project supported by the European Commission: “Strengthening of National Research Capacity on Policy, Conflict Resolution, and Reconciliation.” The university officials, including Dr. Salem Helles, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and Dr. Walid Al-Mudallal, the project director, received the guest along with Amani Al-Maqadma, head of the External Relations Department, and a group of college students in the master’s and bachelor’s programs.

During the visit, the guest toured the university’s facilities and expressed his admiration for the university’s development and distinction, despite the challenging conditions in the Gaza Strip. The officials discussed various issues of common interest and explored ways of cooperating, particularly in academic and student exchange projects between the Islamic University and the University of Granada in Spain.

It is worth noting that the international projects aim to strengthen the capacities of Palestinian higher education institutions and their members by providing opportunities for faculty, staff, and university students to make joint visits to partner European countries. This allows them to exchange experiences and knowledge with their European counterparts, which contributes to the development of their knowledge, abilities, and skills in line with local and international requirements.

The project sponsored by the European Commission, “Strengthening of National Research Capacity on Policy, Conflict Resolution, and Reconciliation,” seeks to enhance the research capabilities of the participating universities in the Middle East and North Africa region, including the Islamic University of Gaza. Dr. Hidalgo’s visit was an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Islamic University and the University of Granada and to explore ways of collaborating further on joint initiatives.
