In an effort to broaden the knowledge and understanding of their students, the Electrical Engineering Department at the Islamic University of Gaza recently held a seminar entitled “New Horizons for Electrical Engineering and Smart Systems.” The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Wissam Ashour, as well as Dr. Jawdat Abu Taha, the head of the Electrical Engineering and Smart Systems Department, and a group of faculty members and students.
Opening session
During the seminar’s opening session, Professor Ashour emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities for transferring knowledge from experienced people to students. He also expressed the university’s commitment to providing modern educational labs to keep up with the latest technological advancements in electrical engineering.
Dr. Abu Taha explained that the seminar was an excellent opportunity to connect students with civil society and attract specialized academic and technical professionals to impart their knowledge related to energy, artificial intelligence, communications, and modern scientific innovations.
He added that since its establishment, the Faculty of Engineering has taken on the task of graduating engineers capable of identifying problems and finding the best ways and solutions for life problems related to electricity and technology. He also emphasized that the Islamic University has introduced several new engineering specialties, the latest of which is the Smart Systems Engineering specialization.
Scientific sessions
The seminar featured six scientific lectures on various topics related to energy and electrical engineering. These included discussions on professional certifications in energy efficiency and renewable energy, hybrid renewable energy technologies, IEEE organization, laser applications in industrial and engineering sciences, wireless network planning for the fourth generation, and the challenges and opportunities of the technological transformation system towards innovative graduation projects.
Overall, the seminar provided students with valuable insights into the latest advancements and trends in the field of electrical engineering, helping them prepare for successful careers in this ever-evolving industry.
