The team from the Islamic University took first place in the first group of the volleyball tournament for higher education institutions, organized by the Higher Council for Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Attending the opening match were Dr. Moumen Al-Azzazi, head of the sports activities department at the Islamic University, Mr. Mohamed Abu Aita, director of the sports for all department; and Mr. Khaled Al-Jerjawi, head of the student activities department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The first round of the match was held between the Islamic University and the University College of Applied Sciences, which ended with a 3-0 win for the Islamic University. The second round was between the Islamic University and Gaza Training College, which the Islamic University won 3-0. Therefore, the Islamic University is the first group to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
