IUG engineering faculty members and students visit Jordan for scientific tour

A delegation of faculty members and students from the Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University of Gaza recently embarked on a scientific tour to Jordan. The tour, which was part of the eMWRE project, was funded by the European Union in partnership with several institutions, including the Islamic University, Al-Quds University, Mutah University, the University of Jordan, VUB Belgium, and IHE Netherlands. The delegation was led by Professor Younes Mogheir and Dr. Fahd Rabah and included students from the Master’s program in Water Resources Engineering.

During the visit, the students received training on the integrated project applications for a study area to collect rainwater, using GIS and remote sensing systems.

In addition to the training, the students also participated in a scientific tour, visiting some water harvesting projects and dams in Jordan, along with students from Al-Quds University and Mutah University.

The activities also included a meeting for the program supervisors, where the integrated project program was reviewed with the participation of the students. The meeting was attended by representatives from Jordanian and Palestinian institutions concerned with water resources management, such as the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture, and representatives from the partner universities in the program.

The tour was a great opportunity for the students to gain practical experience and knowledge in their field of study, and to exchange expertise with their peers from other universities. It also reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in the field of water resources management, as well as the significance of initiatives like the eMWRE project in addressing pressing challenges related to water scarcity and sustainability.
