IUG’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences holds workshop on professional and trade union work for accounting students

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at the Islamic University of Gaza hosted a workshop on professional and trade union work for accounting students. The workshop was organized in coordination with the Palestinian Accountants and Auditors Syndicate (PAAS) and held at the Central Library building.

The workshop aimed to prepare students of business and economics colleges for entering the labor market and provide them with information on accounting work and how to develop it through courses and meetings. The workshop also sought to enhance the role of trade union work towards accountants and auditors and protect their rights.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Masri, head of PAAS, Mr. Salem Abu Shawarib, head of the Accounting Department at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences; and a group of fourth-year students from the college.

Dr. Al-Masri gave a presentation on the importance of acquiring the necessary experience for accounting work through continuous professional training. He urged students to invest their time in expanding their knowledge and professional structure in order to obtain job opportunities faster due to the role of high skills in the employment process.

Dr. Al-Masri also explained the role that PAAS plays towards Palestinian accountants and auditors and the activities that it holds from time to time that seek to develop their professional capabilities. He said that PAAS works to preserve their rights from grievance and violation, help them find job opportunities, and provide them with new developments in the world of economics, such as cloud accounting.

At the end of the workshop, students presented some opinions that would enhance the role of trade union work among accountants and auditors and students of business and economics colleges in Palestinian universities.

The workshop was a successful event that brought together accounting students, faculty members, and PAAS representatives to discuss professional and trade union work in accounting. The workshop was part of a series of activities that the faculty carries out for its students to qualify them well for the labor market.
