The university student, Mohammad Nafez Hammad, studying for a Master’s degree in the faculty of Islamic Theology (Osoul Eddin) at the Islamic University of Gaza, has won first and second places in the Gridliners International Graphic Design Award. The Gridliners award is the most prestigious award in the Arab world for graphic design. Hammad entered the competition with three works and won two prizes: the gold award for the “Uranus Project” in the layout-poster design category, and the silver award for the “Al Jarou Company” visual identity redesign project in the brand identity redesign category. In addition to the two awards, Hammad received two nominations: “Best Designer of the Year” and “Best Project of the Year.”
Every year, hundreds of professional designers from different Arab countries take part in the competition. They compete for awards in 15 different types of graphic design, such as brand identity, 3D design, and more. Hammad received the first- and second-place prizes at a ceremony held at the Ewart Memorial Hall at the American University in Egypt to honor and distribute awards to the winners of the competition.
The Gridliners Award is one of the activities that stem from the Gridliners Association, which specializes in design and creativity, targeting the Arab world primarily, with the aim of supporting and developing the capabilities of designers through inspiration, communication, and guidance. The association was founded by Professor and Dean Rayan Abdullah, Mr. Mohammed Sulwaya, and Mr. Wasim Qadura.
Hammad’s remarkable achievement in the Gridliners International Graphic Design Competition has been celebrated throughout Palestine and the Arab world. His success in the competition reflects the talent and skill of Palestinian youth, who strive to achieve excellence in various fields despite the challenges they face. It is also an inspiration for young designers and artists to pursue their dreams and reach for their goals.
