Delegation from Miles of Smiles Convoy 41 visits IUG

In a show of solidarity, a delegation from the Miles of Smiles 41 aid convoy visited the Islamic University of Gaza. The convoy was led by Dr. Essam Yousef, who was accompanied by Mr. Khaled Yousef, the deputy head of the convoy. Upon arrival, they were greeted by Dr. Mohammed Al-Aklouk, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic University, and Prof. Dr. Nasser Farhat, the university’s president, along with other members of the Board of Trustees and the University.

During the visit, Dr. Al-Aklouk expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and emphasized that the Islamic University is one of the most prestigious universities in Palestine. He also highlighted the university’s partnership and cooperation relations with international and Arab universities, as well as its status among the top-ranked universities in the world according to renowned university rankings.

Prof. Farhat added that despite the difficult conditions the university has been experiencing due to the sixteen-year-long siege on Gaza, it has still managed to maintain a good reputation and high standing among universities.

Dr. Essam Yousef expressed his pride in the distinguished academic institution, which he described as a model for other academic institutions to follow. He also expressed his pleasure at the frequent visits to the Islamic University, which he sees as evidence of the university’s keenness and interest in keeping up with new developments and contributing to the higher education system in Palestine.

The visit of the Miles of Smiles 41 convoy to the Islamic University of Gaza not only demonstrates solidarity with the university, but also highlights the ongoing struggles that universities in Gaza continue to face. The visit served as a reminder of the importance of supporting higher education in Palestine, particularly in light of the ongoing political and economic challenges.
