An agreement of cooperation has been signed at the Egyptian Life Support Training Center (ELSTC) in Cairo, Egypt, with the “Hayat” Center for Emergency Preparedness at the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza. Mr. Khalid Al-Kahlout, the Director of the Central Branch of the Islamic University, and Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Khouli, the Director of the ELSTC, both signed the agreement.
Dr. Karam Al-Batniji, who is a consultant and head of the Breast Surgery Department at Al-Shifa Medical Complex as well as a certified trainer at the “Hayat” Center for Emergency Preparedness at the Faculty of Medicine, was present at the signing ceremony.
The agreement aims to develop the capabilities of medical and health teams in Gaza by implementing internationally accredited training courses for doctors and health teams in the sector. The agreement also paves the way for accrediting the “Hayat” Center as a training center that grants internationally accredited certificates from the International College of Surgeons. This will happen after meeting the requirements for accreditation, which include having an accredited training staff and logistical facilities with the latest technologies for training, such as models, tools, and training rooms.
Both sides were happy to sign this agreement, which they saw as a continuation of the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples’ long history of working together on many levels.
At ELSTC, doctors from Gaza received five advanced training courses on how to treat injuries from accidents and emergencies.
