An agreement has been signed at the Islamic University of Gaza to support the project of applied methodologies for legal education at the university, in partnership with the Sawasya Program (2): “Promoting the Rule of Law in the State of Palestine,” a joint program of the UNDP, UN Women, and UN Children’s Fund.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Nasser Farhat, President of the Islamic University, in the presence of: Dr. Salem Abu Makhadeh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law; Dr. Yasser Fogo, Head of the Islamic Sharia Department; Dr. Anwar Al-Shaer, Director of the Legal Clinic; and Eng. Rami Ghaboun, Project Coordinator at the clinic.
The project aims to enhance the practical skills of male and female students of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Islamic University by focusing on the projections and practical applications of the legal courses that are being studied. That can be attained by holding several activities and training courses with the aim of refining students’ practical skills and placing them in a real work environment, and by empowering graduates and students with economic difficulty to obtain their graduation certificates by covering their financial debts.
The agreement calls for the construction and furnishing of a sophisticated moot court hall in the university’s southern branch, the organization of scientific conferences with active student participation, the holding of various and advanced training courses for students on legal research skills and insurance, and the announcement of a moot court competition, which will be preceded by intensive rehabilitation and training for the participating students.
