Departments of the Faculty of Engineering: Computer, Electrical, and Smart Systems at the Islamic University, sponsored by Vision Plus and Rent companies, held a seminar under the title “Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems” in the presence of: Prof. Dr. Wissam Ashour, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Ayman Maliha, Head of the Computer Engineering Department; Prof. Dr. Hala Al-Khozondar, Head of the Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Systems Department; Prof. Dr. Ayman Abu Samra, Coordinator of the seminar; and a number of specialized and interested engineers and a group of students from the Faculty of Engineering.
Opening session
In his speech before the opening session, Prof. Ashour indicated that the seminar specializing in artificial intelligence aims to introduce students to AI topics and its diverse branches to be prepared for the future since AI is the basis of all different processes. He pointed out that the faculty seeks, through its activities and programs, to prepare and qualify top human cadres in various scientific fields.
Prof. Ashour emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities that contribute to developing and raising the capabilities of students and building their personalities, calling on students to attend all activities and events held by the various engineering departments to increase their skills and knowledge.
Seminar sessions
With regard to the seminar sessions, they were held over the course of three scientific sessions, where Eng. Kifah Al-Bashiti presented a definition of artificial intelligence, Eng. Muhammad Al-Agha spoke about computer vision, and Eng. Nadia Mahdi demonstrated the management of energy systems. The first session included a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Hala Al-Khozondar.
As for the second scientific session, Eng. Baraa Abu Salut discussed building a complete system with artificial intelligence, and Eng. Fouad Abu Owamir spoke about communication systems and cybersecurity.
Regarding the third scientific session, Dr. Fadi Al-Alami reviewed artificial intelligence in control systems, and Dr. Muhammad Awadallah mentioned optimization algorithms. The third session included a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Ayman Abu Samra.
