In the Student Research Excellence Award 2022, launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, for the best research and graduation project of undergraduate students in universities and colleges, the following IUG graduates have taken top places for their remarkable graduation projects;
- Jumana Sorour: First place, Faculty of Information Technology, for her graduation project entitled, “Detection of brain tumors using a Quantum Convolutional Neural Network: A demonstration using quantum computing.”
- Fatima Al-Arabid, Ms. Hanan Abu Issa, and Ms. Nour Al-Jojo: First place, Faculty of Health Sciences, for their graduation project entitled, “Development of a new agricultural medium from locally available plants”
- Rizk Keshko: Second place, Faculty of Nursing, for his graduation project entitled, “The Gap between Theory and Practice in Nursing Education among Students in the Faculty of Nursing at the Islamic University and the Impact of Shifting to E-Learning During the Corona Pandemic.”
Prof. Nasser Farahat, IUG president, congratulated the winners and pointed out that the Islamic University has always been keen to encourage students and academics to take an interest in scientific research because of its significance for university advancement and society development, and because it is one of the most paramount pillars of the tremendous and rapid progress in the current era.
The award aims to encourage scientific research among regular students of higher education institutions to continue their activities, initiatives, and research innovations. It also aims to activate the role of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in supporting student scientific research activities in higher education, spread the culture of scientific research among students of higher education institutions, raise the level of quantitative and qualitative outputs of graduate research, and promote the spirit of critical competition among students of higher education institutions in the field of scientific research.
The award included four scopes: 1- engineering, natural sciences, environmental sciences, 2- information technology systems, 3- medical and health sciences, 4- human sciences. Higher education institutions participated by submitting 38 researches, of which 11 arbitrated scientific papers have won.
