The player “Abdul-Jabbar Skaik,” a graduate from the Islamic University of Gaza, won the bronze medal in the chest lift, lifting 155 kg, in the 2022 IPF University Powerlifting Cup in Turkey.
The ceremony of announcing the results witnessed a participation from the Islamic University representative Mr. Moamen Al-Azazi, Head of the Sports Department at the Student Affairs Deanship, in the presence of Mr. Justin Bragg, President of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), Mr. Farshad Sultani Amidabadi, President of the Asian Powerlifting Federation, and a group of representatives of universities participating in the championship.
Mr. Bragg crowned the champion, Abdul-Jabbar Skaik, with the bronze medal for winning third place at the world level, and thanked the Islamic University for its distinction in the championship by achieving such advanced place.
The Egyptian Powerlifting Federation thanked the Palestinian Weightlifting Federation for this distinguished achievement, which thus became the first international medal for Palestine and the Arabs in the University Powerlifting Cup in Turkey for 2022.
At the end of the championship, the shield of the Islamic University of Gaza and the Palestinian scarf were gifted to the president of the International Powerlifting Federation and to the president of the Asian Powerlifting Federation.
It should be noted that the Islamic University of Gaza was the only Arab university to participate among the universities of the world in the championship.
