IUG student “Nisreen Qozat” and graduate “Linda Ramadan” among best 10 teachers at national level

IUG’s master student and teacher Nisreen Qozat, currently studying for a master’s degree in educational administration from the Faculty of Education, and graduate teacher Linda Ramadan, a holder of master’s degree in geography from the Faculty of Arts at the Islamic University, ranked among the top ten teachers in Palestine in the competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in cooperation with the European Union and UNESCO.

Teacher Qozat has won for her distinguished initiatives and activities in teaching chemistry to secondary school students through the implementation of several initiatives, including: Be a Chemist, Our Life is Chemistry, My School Environment, the Water Garden, the Fish Farming Project, and Verse and Value, in which she employed a number of teaching methods, including: theater, role-playing, augmented reality, simulation in chemistry, encouraging students to produce stereophonics and scientific projects, partnership, and scientific twinning.

With regard to her qualification for the competition, it was for being awarded the title of creative teacher among 300 Palestinian teachers, who were selected based on their educational achievements and teaching methods. Then they were filtered for the final stage to only 12. After that she was selected among ten winning teachers, eight from the West Bank and two from the Gaza Strip. Her initiative was evaluated by an evaluation committee from the European Union, UNESCO and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Ramallah for the achievements and initiatives made by the teacher in teaching students and their impact on them.

Moreover, teacher Ramadan has won for presenting several initiatives to develop the teaching of geography for the secondary stage, including: preparing the Palestine Cities Tourism Guide, which is an app that introduces students to the cities and geography of Palestine in their curriculum in an easy and simplified manner.

She also designed interactive maps and books, launched an initiative “So we don’t forget,” and held a series of workshops to train teachers on drawing contour maps in geography and enrichment materials such as the question bank and the atlas of geography.

Teacher Ramadan participated in the competition based on her nomination from the West Gaza Directorate, among 14 teachers from 7 directorates in the Gaza Strip. Their achievements were sent to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Ramallah and, based on the evaluation committee, she was chosen as a winner among 8 teachers, through a presentation and discussion of the Palestine Cities Guide initiative and how it affects the student and society and the benefit thereof, and a review of the results of this initiative.

 It is worth noting that the winners were announced during the conference “Transformation in Education Begins with the Teacher”, held by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the European Union and UNESCO, on World Teachers’ Day 2022 in Ramallah.
