Faculty of Medicine participates with scientific papers in First International Medical Conference on Breast Cancer

The Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza participated with a number of scientific papers in the first international medical conference entitled: “The first annual international multidisciplinary breast cancer conference”, held for the first time by Women’s Imaging and Leadership Lab (WILL) in cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and several local and international institutions. The faculty’s participation came as a continuation of the march of excellence in medical scientific research and the existence in international conferences and seminars.

Dr. Fadel Naim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, tackled the achievements of the faculty represented in graduating more than 600 male and female doctors since its establishment, most of whom joined various disciplinary programs locally and internationally. He pointed out that the faculty is distinguished by its interest in scientific research, noting that the faculty has held nine international conferences since its establishment. It has also established the Hayat Center to enhance preparedness for emergencies, which has completed several courses such as: first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency diploma, etc. He thanked the organizers of the conference and the scientific workshops held on the sidelines of it, praising the importance of these conferences in developing the health sector in Palestine.

Faculty’s Scientific Papers at the Conference

The conference was held over five days. The first day was devoted to a workshop entitled “Leadership, Research, Mentorship, and Coaching in Medical Education”, with the participation of 80 male and female students from the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University.

Prof. Dr. Khamis Al-Essi, Professor of Neurological Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine and founder of the Evidence-Based Medicine Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, participated in a lecture entitled: “Palliative & Hospice Care in Gaza: Challenges & Opportunities.”

Dr. Muhammad Dabour Asaad, Head of the Pre-Clinical Department, Pathologist, gave two lectures entitled: “Overview of Breast Pathology Challenges in Gaza” and “Rad-Path Correlation”.

Dr. Bilal Al-Dabbour, Neurologist, and Head of the Basic Sciences Department, gave a lecture entitled: “My Leadership & Relay Journey in Healthcare.”

The sixth-level Medical student Omar Al-Najjar presented a scientific paper entitled: “Gaza Medical Students’ Presentations: Survey of Medical Education”.
