The journalists: Yahya Al-Yaqoubi, Ahmed Al-Koumi, and Noureddin Saleh, graduates of the Journalism and Media Department in the Faculty of Arts at the Islamic University, won the best six investigative reports about publication and funding within the investigative project organized by the Media Development Center at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the German Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation in the West Bank and Gaza.
Journalist Al-Yaqoubi won for his investigative report entitled “Convicts serving the full sentence of imprisonment inside the detention unit.”Al-Koumi won for his investigation entitled: “There is no safety for battered women with disabilities in Palestine.”; and Journalist Saleh won for his investigation entitled: “Damaged Batteries, a business at the expense of the lives of the citizens.”
A number of 16 nominated participants competed to win the best six investigations out of 23 journalists from the West Bank and Gaza. These investigations were subjected to legal scrutiny by the Institute of Law at Birzeit University and by the arbitration of a number of media professionals who participated in three specialized courses: “Investigative reporting hypothesis building and presentation,” “Occupational and physical safety of investigative journalists,” and ” Short video making and presentation for investigative reporting.”
