The Faculty of Nursing and the Women’s Health Center in Al-Bureij organize the Pink Caravan event

The Faculty of Nursing at the Islamic University, in partnership with the Women’s Health Center in Al-Bureij town, affiliated with the Culture and Free Thought Association, organized an awareness-raising and early examination event about breast cancer called “the Pink Caravan” targeting university students. The organization of such events comes in October of each year, according to WHO classification as a month for awareness campaigns and early detection of breast cancer, which is increasing in prevalence among women.

According to the ongoing partnership between the Faculty of Nursing and the Culture and Free Thought Association, represented by the Women’s Health Center, the university received the Pink Caravan, which is equipped with a mobile clinic and an ultrasound device, with the aim of early detection of the largest possible number of suspected cases among girls. The presence of the Pink Caravan at the university was accompanied by a special awareness station of self-examination mechanisms for breast cancer, led by fourth-level students of nursing and midwifery specializations.

Dr. Arifa Al-Bahri, Head of the General Nursing Department, advised the students to take care of their health and provided an explanation and clarification of the correct mechanism for the self-examination that every girl and woman should do on a monthly basis to ensure their safety from disease.

Ms. Wafaa Obeid, Head of the Midwifery Department, Dr. Yasmine Ishnina, and Ms. Sarah Abu Odeh accompanied the caravan to provide the necessary awareness to the students.

The event witnessed a large turnout of students wishing to be examined and benefit from the awareness stations. This event is part of a series of events held by the Faculty of Nursing and the Department of Midwifery on an ongoing basis in the pink month of October each year.
