A delegation from World Bank visits Business and Technology Incubator

The Business and Technology Incubator (BTI), Community Service and Continuing Education Deanship (CSCED) at Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) received a high-level delegation from the World Bank in the presence of NGO Development Center (NDC) management, represented by Eng. Ghassan Kasabreh, Director of the NDC; Eng. Alaa Al-Ghalayini, Director of Gaza Programs; and Eng. Saeb Abd Al-Nabi, head of freelancing program.

The delegation was received by: Dr. Alaadin Al-Jamasi , Dean of CSCED; Dr. Iyad Al-Agha, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Eng. Basil Qandil, Director of BTI; the Login project staff and the incubator team.

Dr. Al-Jamasi welcomed the visiting delegation and spoke about the role of CSCED with all of its units and departments in supporting and empowering youth economically, referring to the services provided by the Deanship to institutions and individuals. He emphasized the Deanship’s constant endeavor, through the projects and programs it implements, to develop the skills of male and female graduates, which would contribute to their access to suitable job opportunities, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions in the Gaza Strip.

Eng. Qandil clarified the most important outputs of the BTI’s programs and projects, in particular the results of the Login project, which was implemented by the incubator, funded by the World Bank and under the supervision of the NDC, with the aim of supporting and enhancing the capabilities of graduates and youth by empowering and integrating them into the regional and global markets. He reviewed in the context of his speech the outcomes and results of the project, whereby the trainees’ income in total exceeded the $800,000 barrier during the project implementation period.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on a collection of trainees’ success stories within the project framework from various disciplines, and listened to their great achievements in the field of freelancing. The delegation expressed its admiration and appreciation for these stories and for the distinguished and qualitative outputs of the project.

With the participation of the visiting delegation, the “Audio Production Center” was opened at BTI, which is the first of its kind at the Islamic University. Through the activities of the project, it was established and equipped with the latest equipment and devices in order to provide a number of integrated services and professional voiceover services in different languages and dialects, through a group of specialists in the field of voice overs.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation expressed its admiration and pride for this achievement, which comes within the activities of the Login project to support youth and build their capabilities.
