IUG’s External Relations Department and Faculty of Engineering hold introductory meeting on international exchange opportunities

In cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, External Relations at the Islamic University held an introductory meeting on international exchange opportunities for students. The meeting was attended by Dr. Khalil Al-Astal, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Wissam Ashour, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Ms. Wala Safi, Coordinator of Exchange Projects at the Islamic University; and a group of the faculty students.

Dr. Al-Astal welcomed the attendees and applauded their interest in the international exchange opportunities announced by the university, pointing out the importance of seizing these opportunities to enrich students’ academic experiences and provide them with international scope.

Prof. Ashour emphasized the role of participating in international student exchange projects in diving into new cultures and building networks that help obtain postgraduate studies scholarships, both for master’s and doctoral degrees.

Ms. Safi illustrated the international exchange projects for students at the Islamic University and stated that the Islamic University is currently participating in several international exchange projects with several universities in Turkey, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Finland, and Britain.

Ms. Safi demonstrated the key conditions, evaluation and selection criteria upon applying to international exchange opportunities, which concentrate on the student’s GPA, English language proficiency, letter of motivation, and the learning agreement. She also presented some engineering students experience after their participation in some international exchange programs, where a total of 21 male and female students from various departments of the Faculty of Engineering have participated in international exchange programs with several universities since the beginning of the program.

The student, Mahmoud Abu Odeh, from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Islamic University, highlighted the exchange experience he gained at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University (İKÇÜ) in Turkey, referring to the most important elements that helped him through his journey from the submission of the application until finishing the exchange period.
