A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Islamic University of Gaza and the General Authority for Youth and Culture. The memorandum of understanding was signed on behalf of the Islamic University by Prof. Dr. Nasser Ismail Farhat, President of the University, and on behalf of the General Authority for Youth and Culture, His Excellency the Undersecretary, Mr. Ahmed Muhaisen, Director General of the Authority.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Elyan Al-Holi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Said Al-Ghorra, Dean of Student Affairs; Mr. Jamal Al-Aqili, Director General of the Authority; Mr. Khaled Bahour, Director of Voluntary Work in the Authority; and Mr. Alaa Al-Awour, Director of the Undersecretary’s Office.
The two parties agreed on coordination and joint cooperation in providing services to students of the Islamic University and youth groups in Palestinian society through youth centers, volunteer scout groups, and cultural centers affiliated with the General Authority for Youth and Culture, in a way that contributes to the advancement of the scientific and professional level, including volunteer or training fields, workshops, and seminars that the Authority provides.
Prof. Farhat welcomed the attendees from the General Authority for Youth and Culture and indicated the importance of this agreement in strengthening the relationship between the two parties and promoting the organization of joint activities at the youth, cultural, and societal levels.
Prof. Farhat explained the leading role of the Islamic University in all scientific, cultural, and societal fields, stressing the role of Student Affairs Deanship and the Extracurricular Activities and Volunteering Unit in following up with voluntary and community activities that intersect with the activities of the General Authority for Youth and Culture.
His Excellency Mr. Muhaisen emphasized the Islamic University’s leading role in keeping pace with all scientific and research activities and graduating generations of educated and cultured people who provide services in all official, civil, and private community work sites.
Mr. Muhaisen highlighted the most important activities within the Authority’s plan implemented over the past years, such as research competitions, honoring personalities, holding exhibitions, supporting Palestinian youth and scouts, and sponsoring youth centers.
Immediately after the signing, the delegation visited the University Museum, which documents the history of the Islamic University in all its stages since its establishment, including models, photographs, twinning agreements with international, regional, and Arab universities, patents, and other international certificates granted to university professors and students.
