IUG launches a new academic program in Accounting & Information Technology

Islamic University of Gaza has recently launched a new academic program in Accounting & Information Technology after obtaining accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The program that awards a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences aims to qualify students to be professionals who meet the requirements of work in the field of accounting. This is in addition to qualifying them to analyze, design and develop electronic financial systems, so that they can correspond between accounting and information technology.

The main objectives of the program include providing the Palestinian community with cadres in the accounting major who are academically qualified and trained in the fields of accounting and information technology systems, and creating a process of intellectual and cognitive integration among accounting students in the fields of financial sciences and information technology systems. Additionally, the program aims at enabling students to understand the functional areas of financial systems as well as the technical knowledge of information systems. It also aims at providing students with analytical skills to design, develop, implement and manage electronic financial information systems in addition to dealing with problems and challenges in a scientific manner. Furthermore, the program aims at developing students’ skills on how to employ electronic financial information systems in developing projects, and finding job opportunities in more than one professional field based on the acquired scientific and technical background, which helps in combining the disciplines of accounting and information systems.

The program targets students who obtained high school certificate of all streams, as well as those who had an intermediate diploma or bachelor’s degree from a university accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

With regard to career opportunities, this program has been designed to meet the needs of local Palestinian labor market, and thus graduates of the program can reach numerous job opportunities in various places such as: production and economic institutions, research and economic studies centers, government ministries, civil society institutions and NGOs, and international bodies operating locally and abroad. This is in addition to enabling graduates to  work online in the field of designing and implementing financial programs.
