Business and Technology Incubator (BTI) of Community Service and Continuing Education Deanship (CSCED), at Islamic University of Gaza (IUG), and the Ministry of Finance have signed a cooperation agreement to implement the project entitled “Capacity Building to Integrate Graduates in the Labor Market – WE START”, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The project is the result of the relentless efforts made by both the local government, which seeks to achieve digital transformation and freelancing environment, and the university, which seeks to develop the capacities of graduates and increase their employment opportunities in local and international labor market.
The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Gaza, where Dr. Aladdin Aljomasi, Dean of CSCED, represented the Islamic University party, and Mr. Jabr Hijazi represented the Ministry of Finance party, in the presence of Eng. Ahmed Al-Nabris, Director of Employment Development Department at the Ministry of Labor, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Hanjouri, Deputy Dean of CSCED, and BTI team.
This agreement comes to complement the successive successes and impressive results of BTI within its third program: “Freelance Work Program”, and to underline its continuous efforts in supporting and boosting graduates and youth capacities by empowering and integrating them in local and international markets.
The project aims to increase the likelihood of young people to obtain local and international job opportunities, through qualifying and developing the capacities of (210) male and female graduates from all disciplines in qualitative technical areas classified into two tracks; the first is Software Specializations, and they are:
- Asp.net core with js
- PHP Laravel with VUE
- Angular, Node.js with React.js
and the second is Non-software Specializations, which includes: training and distance teaching, cloud accounting, content writing, Quran memorization, interior design, and translation.
The trainees in these two tracks will be provided with an integrated set of technical and freelancing skills through a selection of experienced and qualified mentors, in addition to an integrated set of services and trainings that enhance their opportunity to compete on platforms and markets. The project also provides incubation services by hosting graduates in the incubator’ equipped rooms and labs. Furthermore, the trainees of Software Specialization track will be paid in exchange of their training in specialized software companies in the Gaza Strip.
The project is implemented in cooperation between BTI, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Information Technology. The graduates database, collected by the Ministry of Labor since February 2022, will be the foundation for the beneficiaries of the project.
