The Palestinian poet Mrs. Alaa Alqatrawi, a PhD student in Arabic Language Department, Faculty of Arts at Islamic University of Gaza, won the Best Youth Poetry Collection Award, as part of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation awards, for her collection “A Waterwheel Trying to Sing.”
The foundation had launched its 18th round of Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation Award for Poetic Creativity during the period from April to September 30, 2021,
The poet Alqatrawi won the best poetry collection award for young poets, worth $10,000, after the poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain announced the winning names of the foundation awards in its 18th round in poetry and criticism area, with its six categories; which are: Best Book Award for Poetry Criticism, Best Poetry Collection Award, Best Poem Award, Best Youth Poetry Collection Award, Best Youth Poem Award, in addition to an Honorary Award for Poetic Creativity. The winners were selected by the award’s supreme jury after approving what the arbitrators of the foundation’s Board of Trustees had agreed upon..
The award recorded wide participation from all over the Arab world, where the number of participations reached (826) in the various categories of the award as follows: (56) in best book for poetry criticism, (124) in best poetry collection, (341) in best poem , (98) in best youth poetry collection, and (207) in best youth poem.
