IUG Inaugurates the exhibition of “Books recently arrived at Central Library”

Prof. Dr. Nasser Farhat – President of Islamic University of Gaza, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhaisen – Vice President of Administrative Affairs, and Mr. Mamdouh Ferwana – Director of the Central Library inaugurated the exhibition of “Books recently arrived at the Central Library” generously donated by the eminent scholar Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naama, President of Iraqi Sunni Scholars Association. The opening of the exhibition, which lasted for three days, was attended by a large gathering of administrative and academic members at the university.

Prof. Dr. Farhat thanked Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naama for his generous donation of a large quantity of books, stressing that they are beneficial to university or cultural lives of students in Islamic or literary studies.

Prof. Farhat pointed out that the Central Library is open to all students, scholars, researchers, and the public in the Gaza Strip, as it is a pioneering place for building generations and increasing their culture. He valued the role of individuals and their efforts in classifying, sorting and cataloging the books to facilitate students’ access to them.

Mr. Muhammad Badr, the exhibition coordinator, indicated that Dr. Al-Naama donated about (4,000) books in their new condition from his private library and at his own expense. He indicated that since the books were received, technical procedures of indexing and classifying have been conducted to display them into the Central Library.

Mr. Badr explained that the books arrived wrapped and placed in (70) boxes, and were presented to the internal and external audience through this exhibition; to view them and keep abreast of what is new before displaying them into the halls of the library. He stated that the books varied in several fields such as Quran interpretation, Sharia, Arabic literature and education, whether authored by the donor himself or by other old and contemporary authors of scholars and intellectuals.
