Faculty of Engineering holds a study day entitled: “Chorography of the Gaza Strip in Light of Palestinian Reality”

The Scientific Committee of Architectural Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) held a study day entitled: “Chorography of the Gaza Strip in Light of Palestinian Reality”, in the presence of Dr. Anwar Awadallah – Head of Architectural Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Kahlout – Head of the Department’s Scientific Committee, representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, members of the academic and administrative staff and faculty students.

Opening Session

In his speech at the opening session, Dr. Awadallah said: “The study day came as a result of the Scientific Committee efforts, which comes within the framework of holding activities and events that provide all kinds of science and knowledge for students, and that works to develop their skills in the field of architecture by exploiting technological possibilities”

Prof. Dr. Al-Kahlout praised the faculty’s efforts in providing permanent support to the Architectural Engineering Department activities, and clarified that this is a special day due to the scientific papers it explores, including the benefits that accrue to students, and raise the status of urban development in the sector.

Study Day Lectures

Regarding the first lecture, Eng. Amal Muhaisen, Director of Urban Planning Department at the Ministry of Local Government, discussed the role of local government in turban developmen in the Gaza Strip.

As for the second lecture, Prof. Dr. Farid Al-Qiq, representative of the Engineers Syndicate in the Central Committee, addressed prospects and solutions of chorography.

The third lecture, in which Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Kahlout, Professor of Urban Planning, spoke about the impact of laws and regulatory legislation on urban development.
