Activities and Voluntary Work Department in Student Affairs Deanship and Quality and Development Deanship at Islamic University of Gaza (IUG), in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, organized a campaign to clean the Gaza seashore under the slogan “Clean Seashore.. Beautiful Seashore” . The campaign was launched in front of the waterfront headquarters of the Gaza Municipality.
Prof. Dr. Abdelraouf Elmanama, Dean of Quality and Development at IUG, started the campaign with a speech in which he stressed the importance of preserving the marine environment and the beach, and the importance of keeping it clean to ensure the preservation of fisheries and the disposal of organic waste thrown on the beach sand and other waste. He stressed the need to make an effort to preserve the aesthetic shape of the beach, as it is an important and essential outlet for citizens.
Mr. Ashraf Miqdas, Supervisor of Activities and Voluntary Work at IUG, spoke about the importance of involving university students as they are the educated class in society, in order to enhance their interest and responsibility in preserving the homeland clean and beautiful, whether on land or sea, by promoting this culture and instilling it in them in a practical way by carrying out the tasks entrusted to them and transferring it to others.
Numerous representatives of departments and sections of Gaza Municipality, a large number of students from various disciplines, representatives of General Department of Traffic and Rescue Police, and representatives of General Department of Institutional Police from the Islamic University Police Office participated in the launch of the campaign.
The campaign included drawing a mural that simulates the clean marine environment carried out by a group of female students on the wall opposite the 17th roundabout at the entrance to the municipality’s waterfront headquarters.
It is worth noting that the campaign will be implemented over two days, the first day for cleaning the cornice and pier area, and the second day for cleaning the sandy area on the beach.
