Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, IUG, participates in international workshop in Germany

A delegation from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) participated in an international workshop on reconciliation at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena – Germany. The university delegation included: Prof. Dr. Salem Helles – Dean of the Faculty, six students from two master’s programs in Regional and International studies, and Development Economics, three students majoring in Political Science and Media, and a group of faculty members.

Two other delegations from the Arab American University and Hebron University participated in the workshop. This workshop comes as part of the activities of the project “Strengthening National Efficiency in Research of Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation” funded by the European Union “Erasmus +” and administrated by Prof. Dr. Walid Almudallal from the Islamic University.

The workshop included two parts, the first was a set of lectures at Frederic Schiller University in Jena, by Professor Martin Liner and Dr. Iyad Dajani, during which they presented a conceptual and theoretical rooting of the reconciliation concept, its roots and models, with an emphasis on the German experience. The second part was field visits in Berlin to the most important museums and sites that tell stories of History of Berlin, Europe and the World.

It is noteworthy that the faculty members of the participating delegation have discussed with their counterparts at Frederick Schiller University and Palestinian universities the possibility of cooperation in several areas, such as increasing academic exchange at the level of students and professors, holding joint lectures, and developing project proposals that include several universities in the Arab region and the European Union countries.
