A student team from Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) has launched their environmentally-friendly interior and exterior decoration business, which alters the use of Jerusalem stone decoration. Their decoration comes with inscriptions and creative designs, which qualified them to compete at Palestinian-scale universities under the auspices of INJAZ Palestine Institution.
The idea of “Glossy Stone” company revolves around providing environmentally-friendly alternative products to Jerusalem stone with creative designs, which can be used in covering building facades, and in the interior and exterior decoration. The company also seeks to provide an integrated set of attractive designs and high-value and high-quality products, which contribute to the occurrence of qualitative and sustainable difference in the domestic market, particularly in building and construction sector.
The team consists of a number of students from various faculties at IUG, and they are: Ali Al-Shawwaf, Mohammed Abu Shahla, Samiha Fayiz Shaheen, and Shaymaa Eid Al-Qassas (Faculty of Engineering)- Jasmine Abu Shawish, Shaymaa Abdullatif, Iman Hijazi, Malak Rajaa Ashor, and Ibraheem Abo Lafi (Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science) – Nirmeen Hassona, Dalia Abu Alawn, Malal Farahat, and Alaa Hajjaj (Faculty of Art)
The team members was nominated by Business and Technology Incubator (BTI) at IUG, their responsibilities are distributed according to their specialties; starting from the stone manufacturing to the delivery of the product to the local market. They are supervised by an external institution through meetings and activities to provide them with advice on ensuring the quality of the products.
It should be noted that the first-prize winning company will be evaluated as the best student company. Other places will be evaluated as the best media coverage, the best social impact and the best product.
