Within “Towards a Safe Traffic Environment” initiative; IUG launches “Traffic Awareness Campaign” Week

At Islamic University of Gaza, activities of “Traffic Awareness Campaign” week were launched as part of an initiative towards a safe traffic environment “Your Safety First”. The campaign was held in partnership among the university, the General Administration of Traffic and Emergency Police, the Ministry of Transport, and a number of youth institutions and teams.

As part of the campaign’s opening activities, a lecture on traffic awareness was held with the attendance of a number of representatives of relevant institutions and a large gathering of university students. The event was accompanied by a special exhibition of the campaign in the grassy university stadium.

Mr. Ashraf Miqdas, Supervisor of Activities and Voluntary Work at the Deanship of Student Affairs, spoke about the importance of enhancing the traffic culture among students, the educated class in society, and thanked the participating parties, and expressed the willingness of the students within the volunteer teams to support these initiatives, leading to a model and civilized society.

Director of General Administration of Traffic and Emergency Police, stressed the need to join efforts to make the university square a model one in terms of commitment and traffic safety. Furthermore, Director of Training Department at Traffic and Emergency Police Administration discussed accidents, their causes, and how to avoid them.

In the second day of the campaign a field meetings and theatrical scenes were held in male and female campuses.
