In New Scientific Breakthrough; Graduate from IUG’s Faculty of Science Patents a Cure for Pancreatic Cancer from Spanish Company “Bosch i Gimpera”

Researcher Ms. Baraa Abu Assaker, currently a researcher at University of Barcelona, formerly a graduate from Biotechnology Department in Faculty of Science at Islamic University of Gaza, has obtained a patent for her invention of “p1.3 peptidomimetic”, a conjugate designed to connect with the protein responsible for the emergence of pancreatic cancer, the function of this conjugate is to inhibit the work of the carcinogenic protein.

This curing conjugate has yielded in a percentage of 80% in killing cancer cells, with no effect on natural cells.

The cure was arrived at after two consecutive years of research by Ms. Abu Assaker who conducted extensive experiments in the department of “Biomedical/Hospital Clinic” in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona.  On February 18th 2022, the patent of the cure was registered in the Spanish pharmaceutical company “Bosch i Gimpera”

Researcher Abu Assaker graduated from the Islamic University in 2016. After graduation, she worked as a Teaching Assistant in the university for a year, and in 2019 she received a master’s degree from the University of Barcelona, and is now enrolled in a doctoral program.
