Life Center for Enhancing Emergency Preparedness (Hayat), Faculty of Medicine at Islamic University of Gaza has dispatched ten surgeons in various surgical disciplines (ATLS) to Cairo, Egypt to take an advanced course on injuries and accidents.
The course is funded by Palestinian doctors gathered in Europe (PalMed) and lasts for 6 days, approved by the American College of Surgeons, and implemented by the Egyptian Life Support Center.
Dr. Fadel Naim, Dean of Faculty of Medicine at IUG, explained that this course has been held for the first time in the Gaza Strip outside its borders. The first step would be to establish an accredited training center to train doctors and medical students on such courses with approved certification from the American College of Surgeons. He pointed out that such courses represent a qualitative addition to the training services provided by Hayat Center at the faculty, and will constitute a pillar for medical work and an important step towards improving the medical service in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Naim thanked PalMed Europe for their continued support of the Faculty of Medicine and Life Center, which strongly contribute to enabling the center to deliver its training services and achieve its goal and mission to reach a Palestinian society capable of handling and educating from crises and disasters.
