Iwan Center for Cultural Heritage, Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University (IUG) has begun the work on the project of restoration the wall between Katib Al-Wilaya Mosque and Church of Saint Porphyrius, in partnership with Gaza Municipality and Spark Organization for Innovation & Creativity, funded by Barakat Trust. This restoration project aims at strengthening the relationship with society components and relevant authorities.
This work involves 15 engineers from the Faculty of Engineering and specialists from History and Archaeology Department, IUG, where the first phase began with removing the cement layer of the wall to prepare it for restoration.
Work on the project is scheduled to last for 4 weeks to restore the wall and transform it to a painting with efforts of planners and artist painters.
Iwan Centre has concluded a number of domestic and external conventions and partnerships to promote joint work to achieve its objectives and future vision.
