Islamic University of Gaza honored the winners of “University Student Researcher Award” competition in its second round, held by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The celebration took place in the presence of Prof. Naser Farhat, IUG President, Dr. Bassam Tayeh and Dr. Rawia Awadallah, Deputies of Dean of Scientific Research and postgraduate Studies, winner students and their supervisors.
Prof. Farhat underlined that winning such high-profile competition is of great value to the Islamic University, which has promoted the culture of scientific research among students. He noted that the Islamic University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education have always organized events that promoted and supported creativity of young people in Palestinian society.
Dr. Tayeh commended the role of the Ministry of Education in providing all support to distinguished student researchers, and noted that the University has collected the majority of the awards (11 awards), which is one of the University’s continuing achievements at scientific research side.
He added that the Scientific Research Deanship seeks to improve the global image of the University by raising the level of research achievement and international publication, which is one of the most significant factors for the advancement of universities in international classifications. The deanship also plans to publish 200 papers annually in the upcoming years.
On behalf of the winners, the student Raed Hammad paid tribute to the role of the university and its supervisors in providing them with all opportunities and assistance to win this competition, and thanked his parents for their care and support to reach this place.
