A delegation from Hemaya Center for Human Rights visited Faculty of Science at IUG. The delegation was headed by Dr. Hazem Alshaarawi, Director of the Center, Mr. Yasser Alderawi, Public Relations and Training Officer, and Mr. Abdulhamid Eid, Monitoring and Documentation Unit Officer. The delegation was received by Dr. Bishr Eqilan, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Ziyad Abu Hain, Director of Crisis and Disaster Management Center. The visit aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation between Faculty of Science and Hemaya Center for of Human Rights.
Dr. Iquilan appreciated the gesture of mutual cooperation between the two parties and suggested forming a committee of both parties to construct a memorandum of understanding handling the common issues. He hoped if possible resolution of such issues could be investigated within research centers at IUG.
Dr. Abu Hain pointed out that there were some studies on the issues at hand, which could be used once compiled, and suggested that other detailed studies could be done through postgraduate students and specialized academicians.
Dr. Alshaarawi explained in detail the work nature of Hemaya Center represented in adopting human rights issues of a scientific nature, such as: Problems related to the increase in cancer inflictions in the Gaza Strip, as well as contamination of water, soil and agriculture and their relation to human rights violations.
