A delegation from UNESCO Organization, led by its education program manager, visited Irada Centre for Rehabilitation and Professional Training of Persons with Disabilities at IUG. The visit aimed at learning about objectives and work nature of the Centre, as well as viewing projects in the area of professional training for women and youth in the Gaza Strip, especially for persons with disabilities, in order to integrate them within the society and improve their employment opportunities.
Dr. Ayman Abu Swereh, Director of Irada Centre, welcomed the visiting delegation and provided brief overview of the Centre. He demonstrated the center’s areas of excellence that include the diversity of training programs and the availability of equipped training workshops, which work towards achieving the quality of professional training provided to the beneficiaries of the Centre.
Dr. Abu Swereh drew attention to the importance of professional training in job creation, noting the Centre’s efforts in networking, strengthening partnerships, and cooperation with concerned authorities to provide employment opportunities for graduates, not only in the Gaza Strip but also in the international market. He added that, the center seeks to develop the integration of disciplines that support the green economy. He hoped that there would be cooperation with UNESCO in the coming period.
At the end of the visit, the delegation toured in the training workshops and viewed the product exhibition that reflects the graduates ability to produce and maintain quality of their products. The UNESCO delegation commended various projects of Irada Center and its training programs that tailored to the needs of labor market.
