In the Palestine-Turkey Friendship Hospital; Faculty of Medicine at IUG examined ( 80) medical students, 4th level, on the Objective Structured Clinical Examination “OSCE”
Dr. Fadl Naim, Dean of the faculty, said that the OSCE exam is highly crucial, because it examines students’ clinical skills through a standard test, noting that the Faculty of Medicine benefits from the Palestinian expertise in the Gaza Strip by resorting to (20) consultants to test students in specific stations.
Dr. Sobhi Skaik, Director of Palestine-Turkey Friendship Hospital , noted that the primary role of the hospital is to teach, train, test and build the capacity of all medical groups; whether medical students or nursing, before and after graduation, as well as serving the medical sector in the Gaza Strip. He clarified that the hospital is fully equipped and prepared to incubate examinations and training to all faculty departments when needed.
Dr. Skaik appreciated the role of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in sponsoring and providing all support for the various activities held by medical faculties, and its role in training and assessing students to obtain the necessary expertise in various medical disciplines.
Dr. Sohaib Alhams , Head of Surgical Department in the Faculty of Medicine, pointed out that the Surgical Department usually holds “OSCE” after a 9-week stage of clinical training, and the examination is conducted under the supervision of elite surgeons and professors, a step that goes on par with top leading universities in the world. He illustrated that the examination included (5) life stations covering medical history, clinical examination, and clinical communication.
Dr. Ahmed Alghazali, Head of Internal Medicine Department at the faculty, reported that the practical examination aims at evaluating knowledge acquirement and clinical skills from internal medicine pertaining patient’s history of illness at outpatient departments of Palestine-Turkey Friendship Hospital
