IUG and Ministry of Higher Education signs Agreement of Understanding

IUG signed an Agreement of Understanding with the Ministry of Education & Higher Education aiming at improving the educational level of students in the Gaza Strip and boosting professional competency of workers in the education sector.  The IUG party was represented by Prof. Naser Farhat, IUG President, and the Ministry of Higher Education party was represented by Dr. Zeyad Thabet, the Undersecretary of the ministry.

Dr. Thabet clarified that the ministry signed the agreement for the purpose of serving the community pertaining to the service learning. That forms a mutual keystone with IUG in executing on- ground projects to serve both students and the ministry facilities such as schools, as well as setting solutions for pressing issues and fortifying the relation with IUG and the local community.

Terms of Agreement

Terms stipulated that school students and IUG-related educational institutions shall participate in oriented activities to fulfill humanitarian needs of the community through linking study courses with students’ environment, and making them participate in serving the local community by inspecting problems and finding solutions.

The two parties also agreed on performing a cultural process of the project relying on a proper mechanism and cooperating in the execution of the project activities. Additionally, IUG shall provide a list of study courses targeting the service learning in order to apply them on the affiliated institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education. IUG also shall provide the ministry of the activities that should be carried out, and shall conduct an assessment study of the project at the end of each academic semester, and shall convene periodical meetings and seminars to evaluate the service learning outcomes.
