IUG Organizes a Celebration and a Study Day for Story Telling in the Occasion of the International Day of Arabic Language

Arabic Language Department, Faculty of Art at IUG, in cooperation with Science and Culture Center and Arabic Language Club as well as male and female student councils, celebrated the International Day of Arabic Language that included a study day titled “Story Telling in Ancient Arabic Literature” as part of Arabic Language Week.

Dr. Naem Baroud, Dean of Faculty of Art, said that “Our greatest honor is that the language we speak is the language of the Holy Quran, by which we live and alleviate as it lasts forever and since eternity with neither defect nor deficit”. Adding that, “Enemies of Arabs and Muslims might defeat us in some battles in times of our weakness, but they are certain that they couldn’t defeat our language despite many attempts by French and English occupations”. He continued that Arabic Language is lasting, and Arabs are still able to stand before their despots, and stop the series of defeats by leaning on it as their fortress”

Dr. Basem Albabli, Head of Arabic Language Department, stated that Arabic is the mother of all languages, and deserves a day to be remembered of. Adding that, our happiness is indescribable by seeing Arabic Language takes the path of growth and dissemination at the expense of other languages, until its speakers exceeded half billion individuals. Dr. Albabli commended the role of Arabic Language Club in reviving the language among IUG students.
