Academicians and experts suggested finding a cooperation formula among governmental and civic organizations, and a coordination among responsible youth-care institutions in order to bring integrative welfare to youth. This can be achieved through establishing a fund box to support and finance small productive enterprises as a way of fighting unemployment. The box also targets youth graduate by offering them grants and loans on concessionary terms. This is in addition to constructing clubs and youth centers as well as fortifying social and sport activities. All these suggestions have resulted from the study day held by Social Service Department, Faculty of Art, IUG entitled “Scientific Treatments of Contemporary Palestinian Youth Issues”.
Opening Session
In his speech in the opening session, Dr. Naem Baroud, Faculty of Art’s Dean, said that “This day reveals a significant community issue of recent time, youth issue, because o
f their energy and capabilities as well as what they bear of diverse ideas that contribute to society building, nation awakening, and problem solving “. These problems vary from being relevant to learning, education, upbringing, or religious and social values.
Dr. Baroud underlined the necessity of setting up a future strategy that adopts youth and helps them overcoming obstacles, explaining that current changes in the world have caused a defect in family relations and have contributed to the absence of value as a result of different cultures dissemination.
Dr. Amjad Almofty, Head of Social Services Department, clarified that human resources is among the most important society elements and fundamental pillars, because it carries the burden of development. He explained that youth are the basic of development process for having a productive energy that can be employed in uplifting communities and countries, as well as they represent a large portion of the population pyramid.
Mr. Ahmed Muhassin, Chairman of Youth and Sport Public Authority, demonstrated that “This day” is held to find solutions and suggestions for solving the big problems that Palestinian youth encounter, pointing out that Youth and Sport Public Authority prioritized youth employment in governmental work according to their needs and requirements because they are the address of all society stations, and they face all the challenges storming the Palestinian community.
First Scientific Session
In the scientific sessions that held over two periods, the first session discussed the following topics: “Requirements of improving Palestinian youth reality in light of Palestinian Youth Law”, “Enhancing youth role in voluntary work”, “Unemployment among university graduates in the Gaza Strip: reality and solution”, and “A suggested proposal to create awareness among youth of illegal migration hazards”.
Second Scientific Session
The second session discussed the following topics: “Reflections of excessive use of social media tools on youth social and family texture “, “Protecting youth from excessive social pollution hazards on social texture stemming from intellectual invasion”, “Obstacles hindering the role of civic organizations in youth rehabilitation”, and “Factors leading to youth drug addiction and methods of fighting them”
