IUG is the Coordinator of International Project Funded by APPEAR

IUG has just won being the coordinator of the international project titled “Developing a Sustainable Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) that Includes Recycled Solid and Agricultural Wastes as Supplementary Cement Materials”, funded by Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development ( APPEAR), preliminary stage, which submission date ended on May 2021. The project is in partnership with University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Austria.

The project inters into effect on December 2021 for three consecutive months, and aims at formulating a project proposal for academic partnership to develop  an eco-friendly UHPC using  recycled solid and agricultural wastes with an assessment of this mixture. For such aim, meetings with representatives of organizations and concerned parties will be conducted inside Palestine to specify their needs and to exchange visits with the team in University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna

Dr. Bassam Tayeh, Professor of Civil Engineering at IUG and the project manager, hinted that the project results will partially solve the environmental problems emerged from the huge amounts of solid and agricultural wastes through recycling them as supplementary cement materials in concrete mixtures. He clarified that the production of sustainable concrete will encourage people in Gaza to use the recycled materials in various concrete mixtures.

It is worth mentioning that IUG earned several projects during (2015-2020) under APPEAR umbrella in its former framework that included three dimensions: preliminary stage, academic partnership stage, and advanced academic partnership stage.
