Japanese Delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited the Physiotherapy Department at IUG Faculty of Health Sciences to prepare for a project to develop a career in Physiotherapy in the Gaza Strip.
The delegation included Eng. Mohammed Nassar, Dr. Kono Kengi, Dr. Rioto Tsushiama and, from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Aliya AlQeshawi, Director of the Physiotherapy Unit and Dr. Sahar Issa, a member of the unit.
In the beginning, Dr. Mazen welcomed the delegation and led with a synopsis about the Faculty of Health Sciences and its three departments and clarified that the development of Physiotherapy is of importance and priority for the Deanship.
The delegation was also informed about the Physiotherapy Department’s teaching plan, its most important courses, and how to benefit from the sessions which JICA and the Ministry of Health provide for the specialists and students of Physiotherapy in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Kengi spoke about the purpose of the visit, which is the preparation for the project to develop a career in Physiotherapy in Gaza Strip, pointing to the enhancement of the academic service for students, community and training cadres of Physiotherapy in certain subjects. He highlighted the possibility of future collaboration to give lectures and training courses for Physiotherapy cadres from the Ministry of Health in the university within the visits of Physiotherapy experts to Gaza Strip.
The discussion included the methodology of developing academicians’ skilss working in the field of Education through projects implemented by the JICA.
The visit was concluded by the delegation visiting Physiotherapy labs to see the possibilities and available equipment.
