Prof. Hassan El- Nabih and Prof. Mahmoud Baroud, from English Department, took part in an academic workshop held in Amman on the 4th of December, 2019.
Prof. El-Nabih wrote on his Facebook page that: ” I paid a quick visit to Jordan on Tuesday 3rd Dec, 2019, and participated in a workshop on Wednesday in Amman, then come back to lovely Gaza on Thursday the 5th of December, 2019″.
This workshop comes as part of @Palestine programme which is supported by the British Council to foster the field of higher education. The workshop was attended by academics from different Gazan universities in addition to a British team includes a number of experts as well as a staff from the British Council of Gaza, West Bank and Jerusalem.
@Palestine programme generally aims at training the Palestinian academic staff and bolstering their academics’ teaching skills to keep pace with the changes of the 21st century. It includes improving the students’ level of English language, particularly English for Special Purposes (ESP).
One of the expected outcomes of this programme is to provide employment opportunities for Palestinian youth. In addition, it enables them to participate effectively in the global economy which is based on the computerized technology.
It is worth mentioning that this workshop was preceded by a series of preparatory meetings at the British Council headquarters in the presence of the British Council Director in Palestine Dr. Martin Daltrey and representatives of Palestinian universities in Gaza. The meetings kicked off in July and September and will last to 2021 to include several workshops and training courses for Palestinian participants, who will hold similar courses at their universities.
